How do I add an SMB server to Nova? +

To add a server, open Nova, go to **Settings** (gear icon), tap **Add Server**, and enter your server's IP address or hostname. If your server requires authentication, provide the username and password, then tap **Save**.

Why is my folder scan showing empty or failing? +

Ensure that you have granted **Local Network** permission to Nova in iOS Settings. Additionally, verify that the SMB user account you configured has read permissions to the shared folders you want to scan.

How does metadata matching work? +

Nova uses filename parsing rules to identify movies and TV show names, and then automatically queries The Movie Database (TMDb) for details. For best results, name your files clearly (e.g. `Movie_Title (Year).mp4` or `TV_Show_S01E01.mkv`).

Does Nova support external subtitles? +

Yes, Nova supports embedded subtitles as well as external `.srt`, `.ass`, and `.vtt` subtitles located in the same directory as your video file. You can select subtitle tracks directly from the playback overlay screen.

How does iCloud Sync work? +

iCloud Sync is automatic if you have iCloud enabled on your device. It synchronizes your server configurations and watch progress across all your devices. Tap **Sync** in Settings to trigger a manual synchronization.
